News: Kia apprentices earn bronze

Please note: This news story may contain information that is no longer current or up to date.

Automotive trainees from the Kia Academy Apprentice Programme, which is run in partnership with Emtec – part of the College - have gotten off to a cracking start in their training, with five achieving their Bronze Award Accreditation from Kia, in the space of just a week!

The group of Year 1 Service Advisor apprentices are part of the Kia Apprentice Programme, which is based at the College’s Ruddington site, and designed specifically to develop Kia apprentices.

As part of the Level 2 training programme, apprentices are required to complete the Service Advisor Bronze Accreditation during the course of the year. However, these successful trainees pulled out all the stops to achieve their certificates in record time.

Emtec Head of Operations, Jon Rawson, said: “The instructor-based training is delivered by the apprentice skills trainer, to Kia-brand standards, using approved material developed by the manufacturer. This means the apprentice will meet the minimum dealer standards when they complete their Apprenticeship.

“It usually takes our trainees a year to achieve this accreditation, so for these young apprentices to finish it all during the induction block, which is just a week, is a huge achievement! It gives them a real good grounding and knowledge for the brand they represent and sets out a great start to their journey with both Emtec and Kia Motors.”

Emtec is the training arm of Nottingham College’s automotive teaching facility, and as such, works with a number of leading car dealership brands, including Ferrari, Aston Martin UK and Hyundai. The facility helps to equip the next generation of highly-skilled employees and potential managers of the future.
