More than 2,000 local primary school children benefitted from the coaching skills and experience of Nottingham College sport students at the Nottingham Mini Tennis Schools Festival recently.
Thirty-five sport students delivered over 1,000 hours of coaching at the event, which was organised to run alongside the 2018 Nature Valley Open Nottingham at Nottingham Tennis Centre (11-16 June).
The students undertook training with renowned tennis coach Martyn Jones, and also gained valuable experience of how a large sporting event is put together at the Tennis Centre before the event took place.
Tom Walker, Sport Work Experience Coordinator at Nottingham College, said: "It’s great to once again support such a major sporting event, as the students get to put their sport leadership and coaching skills into practice, while helping the community.
"As a result, many have now signed up to get involved in more events at the Tennis Centre, which will be great for their CV.”
