Sustainable Transport

We encourage everyone to travel in a sustainable manner where possible. This could be travelling by bus or cycling opposed to driving in to college.

How will I make a positive impact by travelling sustainably?

By travelling sustainably you will be helping to reduce congestion, improve the air quality of your city and reducing the amount of carbon that is released into the atmosphere.

Active transport is an easy and convenient way to build physical activity into daily routines. Find out the positive health impacts of using sustainable travel for your regular journeys.

Travelling sustainably can save you a significant amount of money. You could save money on fuel by using sustainable travel for your regular journeys - as well as the cost of what you would pay in parking permits / pay & display tickets.

Nottingham College's approach for sustainable travel

There can be large amounts of travelling required for training between our different sites. we encourage sustainable travel wherever this is possible. While this environmental impact is difficult to quantify, and therefore manage and influence in a measurable way, it is recognised that motorised travel has an environmental impact and the College will:

  • Hold virtual meetings wherever possible.
  • Exceptionally, where virtual meetings are not possible, set meetings at sites which have the most number of attendees to reduce the overall travel.
  • Where practically possible, limit the amount of inter-site travel by combining departments and curriculum delivery onto a single campus.
