News: Colleges Week 2021: MPs show their support for Nottingham College

Please note: This news story may contain information that is no longer current or up to date.

This Colleges Week we are shining the spotlight on the great things that happen at Nottingham College every day and the importance we play in our community, as we continuously work to meet learner and stakeholder needs. We support thousands of students each year to move onto the next stages of their lives; whether that’s employment, further study, or re-training for a new career.

Several of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire’s local MPs visited the College last month. Nadia Whittome (MP for Nottingham East), Lilian Greenwood (MP for Nottingham South), Alex Norris (MP for Nottingham North) and Ruth Edwards (MP for Rushcliffe) represent many of the areas our students come from and it’s great to have their support as we shared with them our ambitions to meet learner and local stakeholder needs.

The MP’s visited our brand-new City Hub had the opportunity to meet with our students and staff, tour our facilities and get a deeper insight into what Nottingham College life at Nottingham College and everything we have to offer.

We were delighted to welcome our local MPs to the City Hub and allow them to see our new first class learning facilities, talk to our learners about life and learning at Nottingham College. The visit was a fantastic opportunity for the college leadership team to outline continued ambitions of the college to meet learner and local stakeholder needs.

As part of their visit, the MPs took the opportunity to provide our journalism students with some hands-on experience by taking part in a mock press conference. Our Catering and Hospitality students hosted our MPs in Fletchers, our commercial training restaurant and there were also visits to other course areas including performing arts, digital design, early years, science, and dental technology.
