Please note: This news story may contain information that is no longer current or up to date.
Collage of Nottingham College students

At Nottingham College learning takes place beyond the classroom and our students get lots of opportunities to put their skills into practice.

Whether through work placements, real life briefs set by industry or opportunities to showcase their work to the public, we make sure our students are future ready and when they leave us have the skills they need to move onto the next phase of their career or education.

Award winning students

We’re proud of our students and the skills they learn whilst at college! Because our courses are career focused and our teams of supportive lecturers are dedicated to helping you take the next step towards your future, we’re always encouraging our students to gain recognition for their hard work. Here’s just some of our fantastic award winning students from over the past academic year!

Celebrating the success of our apprentices:

Our first cohort of learners from the TESLA apprenticeship programme graduated earlier this year. The Tesla Apprenticeship Programme provides world-class training and sees apprentices from across the country undertake their training here in Nottingham. The programme is designed to train and develop apprentices in a way that enables them to keep pace with advancing technology and high levels of customer service as well as achieve formal qualifications through extensive product training, all while in full-time employment.

The programme offers superb career prospects and all 10 graduating apprentices have been offered employment by Tesla.

Real world experience

We have a dedicated Work Placement Team who support our students with work placements to complement their courses, enabling them to get real hands-on experience to put what they learn into practice.

One of the organisations we have a successful partnership with is the charity, Sue Ryder. They have been supporting our students by offering meaningful, real-life experience’ work placements within their retail stores. The placements have allowed our students to enhance their learning by getting hands-on experience in several different areas such as merchandising and customer service

Fletchers, our award-winning commercial restaurant is staffed by students on our catering courses and supervised by industry professionals. Open to the public, Fletchers themed events are regular sell outs.

We regularly invite guest speakers to come and visit and inspire our students. Our Creative Writing students took part in a workshop with award winning writer and poet Sophie Sparham.

Our FdA and BA Photography students showcased their work to thousands of passers-by on the big screen at Victoria Centre.

Our Early Years students put their skills into practice and raised over £300 for charity at the same time. Although only starting their courses a short time ago everyone worked together to create activities that would be child-friendly, as well as making posters and promotional materials and running the fundraising event.

Our creative faculties joined forces to launch a new and exciting platform and website. This new Creative Showcase website displays students work from across our Fashion, Media, Art & Design, Photography and Performing Arts courses.

Industry recognition

Our high standard of teaching means we are often recognised by industry as being equipped to provide students with the training they need to succeed in future careers. We’ve been named a College of Excellence’ by Ragdale Hall, one of the UK’s leading spas and our courses have helped students gain employment with them after they leave us too.

Our EMTEC Centre, which delivers training for internationally renowned automotive brands, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2021 Bodyshop Awards in the Educator of the Year category.

The awards recognise and award the very best examples of organisations who are training the next generation, raising industry standards, and generating the skills base vital for the future of the automotive industry.
