News: Creative courses launch online portfolios in a new Creative Showcase website!

Please note: This news story may contain information that is no longer current or up to date.

We’re thrilled to announce a new and exciting platform and website that sees our creative faculties combine forces and present a Creative Showcase. This new website showcases students work from across the following courses and areas; Fashion, Media, Art & Design, Photography and Performing Arts.

The Creative Showcase website goes live at 1pm on Friday 25 June. Despite the challenges of lockdown, our students have continued to push the creative envelope, gaining industry recognition and exposure for their creative works.

Sadly, due to Covid-19 and national restrictions we cannot invite people to public shows across locations in Nottingham, as we typically do, to celebrate the end of the academic year. Instead this forward-thinking step makes the work more accessible by inviting people to view and experience our students work online. You can view portfolios by visiting each faculty area here.

Louise Simpson is studying an Access to H.E. Diploma in Art, Design & Fashion. She said:

As a mature student I was initially nervous about returning to education but found the access course really enjoyable and was able to fit it around my working schedule. The teaching staff really made the course; pushing me outside of my comfort zone, teaching me how to question and develop my ideas. With the confidence gained on this course I have now rented my own studio space and will continue my personal practice.

You can view some of Louise’s latest work on the new Creative Showcase website.

Our Head of Faculty for our creative courses Jonathan Laud told us how proud he is of his team who have created the website and of the interesting work our students have produced:

Despite the obvious challenges of lockdown, it’s amazing to see the quality and breadth of creative work that our students have produced. Work that is not obvious, work that has been recognised on a wider scale from industry professionals and through creative competitions.

Like all the hardworking staff who inspire them every day, I am proud of all the young creative talent and it’s great that their work can be shared through the Digital Showcase to give it life beyond the classroom. Hopefully next year we can share the work in person across our fantastic campuses

 — Jonathan Laud – Head of Faculty for Creative Industries and Digital.

The Creative Showcase website has been created over the past few months but it will not just be utilised as an alternative to our End of Year Shows for 2021. Instead, the website will be updated all year round and will be full of images and videos as well as interviews and social media platforms for creative faculties. It will also feature success stories for current, past and future students.
