If you’re in year 11 you are probably thinking about what you want to do when you leave school. There is an array of choice out there, ranging from A Levels and apprenticeships to vocational (work-related) courses in a huge variety of subject areas.
At Nottingham College we have the widest range of courses for school leavers in the region! We outline some of the options below and how to apply for your place this September.
A Levels are a great way to prepare for university-level study.
If you decide to study A Levels at Nottingham College, you’ll be doing so in our dedicated High Pavement Sixth Form. We offer over 20 subjects and are located right next to Nottingham Trent University’s City campus.
If you choose one of our fantastic creative A Levels such as Art and Design or Photography, you’ll be able to take advantage of the College’s industry-standard facilities such as studios and workshops too.
You can study different levels of Vocational courses, and a Level 3 is equivalent to two or three A Levels. Because of the more technical and applied learning involved in a vocational course, it is a perfect stepping stone into a job or career.
We have full time Vocational courses in over 20 subject areas. These range from Entry Level to Level 3 which means we have something to suit everyone’s needs! In addition, we have great links with employers and boast specialist facilities and resources. These include labs, studios, workshops, garages, kitchens, and more to help you get the training you need.
Our brand new City Hub opened its doors to students last year and is home to a wealth of state-of-the-art facilities. Take a look at how our City Hub can help you become Future Ready here!
Apprenticeships are a great opportunity for you to earn a salary while you gain a qualification at the same time.
We are still recruiting and advertising apprenticeship vacancies. We update these regularly so remember to check back frequently.
Re-sitting your GCSEs
If results day comes around and you don’t receive the GCSE results you had hoped for, or you need certain grades to move onto a course or chosen career path then there is the option to re-sit them.
Dependent on personal circumstances there may also the option to re-sit a GCSE subject alongside your chosen post-16 course.
Applications are now open for September 2021
Applying is easy….you don’t even need to be set on your firm decision yet (you can apply for more than one course and decide nearer the time if you wish!).
Visit our apply page, browse courses, submit your application and we’ll be in touch!
