News: Fashion and Photography students collaborate for creative studio shoot
Our industry-standard photography studio, based at the City Hub, was put to excellent use last week when Foundation-Degree (FdA) Fashion and Photography students joined forces for a special collaboration.
Photography students Matt and Rei got to experience working on a real fashion photo shoot with a group of aspiring fashion designers and their models from FdA Fashion.
Studio work is a little out of my comfort zone and I’m not used to directing people, so it was great experience. We had to consider the clients’ creative vision, adapt and adjust to the studio lighting, and stick to a tight deadline — all skills we’ll need in the industry.

Fashion design themes ranged from sportswear and forecasting to white project and human identity.
Sofia took inspiration from the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement for her impressive protest jacket.
BLM started off the design process and then as time went on and more movements and protests took place, such as the Palestine protests, for me, this jacket became a symbol for this and represents the way the world feels today.
It was nice to meet and work together with other creatives on this project. Making connections is really useful in the industry. I’m already looking to work with Photography students again in the future, particularly for my Final Major Project, towards the end of the year.
