A Level student Jem Mousley, 16, will be shaving all her hair off on Saturday 19th December to raise valuable funds for Cancer Research UK.

Jem, who is studying A Level Psychology, Sociology and Photography at our High Pavement Sixth Form, said: I’ve always wanted to make a positive impact and this is my small way of doing that.

Last year my mum jumped out of a plane to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and that got me thinking about what I could do to help. After doing some research I discovered that breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, so that’s where I wanted to focus my fundraising.

With the support of her family and friends, Jem launched her fundraising page at midnight on the 1st December. She promised to dye her hair bright pink if she reached £500 and to shave it all off if she hit the £1,000 mark. Within 12.5 hours she’d smashed her £1,000 target!

True to her word, Jem dyed her hair pink a few days later and will be live streaming the shaving of her hair via Instagram (@jemmamousleyx) at around 3.00pm on Saturday 19th December.

So far, Jem has raised just under £3,000. If you’d like to support her, please visit her fundraising page.
