Automotive students Callum Scothern , 18, (Auto Body Repair level 2 ) and Jordan Hemsley (Auto Refinishing level 3) made the cut to make the final 5 in the automotive skills squad.

The Squad will now undertake an intensive 12 month training and selection process with the hope of earning a place in the prestigious Team UK for Kazan 2019.

Nearly 150 young people have been named in WorldSkills UK’s official Squad, and all are one step closer to competing against the best skilled young people across the world. They represent more than 80 different further education providers across the UK, including colleges, independent learning providers and employers.

Nottingham College automotive tutor Frazer Minskip said: “The fight for places was very intense with high quality candidates across all disciplines so this is a fantastic achievement. This is only the first part of the selection process as they will have to perform at training events all over the UK and possibly the world to make the final cut. We wish them well.”
