Earlier this year we announced our first Gold Standard partnership with Notts County Football Club (NCFC) alongside our Fast Track Sports Academy.

The partnership provides a true footballing and educational experience for those who are successfully recruited to the programme. Timetabling is scheduled for 12 hours of professional training and fitness with the Academy staff at NCFC and full curriculum provision by Nottingham College sports staff. This unique and exciting partnership started in September 2021, and we are now delighted to announce we will be holding several trial dates for those wanting to join the programme in September 2022.

We hear from Isaac Sijuade and Archie Aves who joined the Notts County Football Club Elite Academy earlier this year. They tell us how they have found the programme so far and how their course at college, combined with the professional training they receive at Notts County Football Club is enabling them to keep their future career options open.

I decided to join the programme at Nottingham College as it has allowed me to really focus on my development in football whilst also covering subjects I enjoy and find interesting. My time here so far has been beneficial. I am building my confidence in a professional environment and have great support from the coaching staff at Notts County and my tutors at College.

For anyone considering a career in professional football, education is very important, especially as achieving a professional contract isn’t guaranteed. By studying this course, I am confident I will gain the qualifications I need to keep my future career options open.”

There were a number of reasons I chose this programme, the main ones being that it allowed me to focus on qualifications as well as football, as the timetable has been specially designed to allow me to focus on both.

Knowing that everyone is working together for my personal development on and off the pitch keeps me at ease and allows me to concentrate more. The likelihood of achieving a professional contract is slim, that’s fact unfortunately; but this opportunity provides a chance and an unbelievable experience to work and learn my about trade within the professional environment. Therefore it’s important to have my BTEC to provide other opportunities such as universities and football scholarships abroad”
