Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Nottingham visit

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Nottingham visit

Prince Harry is coming to Nottingham with his new fiancée Meghan Markle tomorrow (Friday 1st December) for their first official engagement as a couple.

During their visit the couple will stop by at the Galleries of Justice, followed by the Nottingham Contemporary, and then the Nottingham Academy. They are expected to do a public walkabout straight after the civic welcome at the National Justice Museum, which could be a short walk between the museum and the Contemporary, or it could be slightly more.

Inevitably this exciting visit will cause some disruption within the city centre; particularly along High Pavement Road, as the public try to catch a glimpse of the happy couple, so please bear this in mind if you are travelling to and from our city campuses.

Nottinghamshire Police have announced a number of road closures that will come into effect tomorrow morning, through to the early afternoon (expected to be around 2pm).

The following roads will be closed to traffic:

Hollow Stone
High Pavement from 7am
St Mary’s Gate from 7am
Middle Hill
Weekday Cross
Fletcher Gate

The police are making every effort to minimise disruption but public safety is the priority and they do expect large crowds throughout the morning.

Please keep an eye on further developments and follow @MyNottingham on social media for more information.

City students:
If you have lectures in the morning and use the Lace Market car park, please be aware that it will be closed in the morning until early afternoon. It's advised to get there before 9am if you intend to park.
