News: Sport Fast Track Academy links with NTU Sport and Hoods Basketball

Please note: This news story may contain information that is no longer current or up to date.

Nottingham College and our new Fast Track Sports Academy have another exciting new partnership. We’ve linked up with Nottingham Trent University (NTU) Sport and NTU Basketball in a bronze partnership for basketball.

As a partnership we believe that we can help shape the future landscape for basketball in Nottingham and help to provide opportunities to develop future basketball players and provision in educational settings.

The Nottingham College Fast Track Academy

Nottingham College recently launched this new Fast Track Academy. It’s designed to help Sport students explore the full range of sports careers and to connect them to teams, clubs and individuals who are making their mark in the sports industry locally and regionally.

Together, and through our Fast Track Academy, we are able to offer Sport students a full range of experiences in different sports.

There are different membership levels for organisations (bronze, silver and gold). These are all designed to link up our students with the sporting industry.

About NTU Sport and NTU Basketball

NTU Sport and NTU Basketball explained that they are heading towards a new and exciting era as they push toward a process-orientated and culture-driven approach, led by their Head Coach Dan Watts.

Coach Watts has a history of developing players who rise up the ranks of UK basketball, play in the states and become professional players.

Coach Watts was also named Basketball England’s Children’s Coach of the year, is a head coach of Basketball England’s regional Aspire programme, and has coached several championship teams at multiple levels. These range from youth national league to men’s national league, the Association of Colleges (AoC) and British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS).

NTU Basketball work in partnership with the Nottingham Hoods Basketball Club. Lots of their NTU performance and scholarship players represent the city whilst playing professionally for the Nottingham Hoods division 1 men’s team.

NTU Sport and NTU Basketball are delighted to be working in collaboration with Nottingham College.

We feel adding more collaboration with like-minded organisations such as Nottingham College we can develop the sport and increase opportunity for young people within the city and around Nottinghamshire.
