At Nottingham College we have a dedicated Work Placement Team who support our students with work placements to complement their courses, enabling them to get real hands-on experience to put what they learn into practice.

Am Sue Ryder Placement
Fashion Business and Retail student Anete Malina has completed a successful work placement at Sue Ryder.

The Work Placement Team have successful partnerships with many businesses and organisations and the experience our students have gained because of these partnerships has been invaluable.

One of the organisations we have a successful partnership with is the charity, Sue Ryder. They have been supporting our students by offering meaningful, real-life experience’ work placements within their retail stores. The placements have allowed our students to enhance their learning by getting hands-on experience in several different areas such as merchandising and customer service.

One of the students who has benefitted from a work placement at Sye Ryder is Anete Malina, who is studying Fashion Business and Retail. Her placement has enabled her to gain experience outside of the classroom in different aspects of retail such as visual merchandising and customer service.

My work placement has been going really well and I am enjoying helping out at Sue Ryder. It’s been great to get a taste of what it’s like working within retail and I have been able to do multiple jobs like creating displays, sorting products, and helping customers.

Our Work Placement Team engage with businesses, charities, and other organisations to identify roles that are suitable in terms of potential skills gaps so that both our students and potential employers can get the most out of the experience. Leah Rubin, Retail Volunteer Coordinator at Sue Ryder says how the charity are privileged to work in collaboration with our students and Work Placement Team to help shape our students’ futures.

Nottingham College’s Work Placement programme is by far one of the best and most supportive programmes I have had the opportunity to work with. Their programme goes above and beyond to support both students and employers, ensuring students are prepared and mentored so they can gain the most from their placement.

Our Sue Ryder stores are proud to provide students with meaningful, real-life experience that will help shape their futures. We are really privileged to have worked with such inspiring students and a committed Work Placement Tea who have made this partnership truly one of a kind.

If you’re a student at Nottingham College the Work Placement Team and our Work Placement Coaches are here to support you throughout your journey, from the initial application stage through to feedback and reflection once your placement has ended.

Over the past three years the team has worked hard to create the Work Placement Portal which is available online. This allows you to gain important practice for the job application process and browse all the currently available placements.

If you’re an employer, business or organisation interested in working with our students please get in touch with the team via email: work.placements@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk
