Talented rappers perform for Prince Harry

23/03/2017

Budding rappers, Akil Beale, 17, and Omari Levy-Sterret, 18, got the chance to meet and perform in front of Prince Harry during his recent visit to Nottingham.

Currently studying a Music Diploma at ncn Clarendon, the talented duo, who have been friends since the age of 10, performed a rap as part of ‘Look Sharpe Barbers’, a group of young musicians who attend the Community Recording Studio (CRS) in St Ann’s.

The group came up with the lyrics and produced the music themselves, based on Shakespeare’s story of Romeo and Juliet, which they performed at Nottingham City Council House last month.

Hip Hop and Grime artist Akil plays the piano, guitar, drums and violin, and hopes to become a well-known artist in the future. He said: “I’ve had a passion for music since a really young age so now that I’m starting to build a name for myself in the music industry it’s a proud feeling. I believe strongly that, no matter what your background or where you come from, you can achieve anything you work hard for. Getting the chance to shake Prince Harry’s hand, speak to him and perform alongside one of my best friends, is a memory that will stay with me for a very long time.”
