The wait is over for our hardworking A Level students

Hundreds of eager Nottingham College A Level students queued up to collect their results from the College’s High Pavement Sixth Form today (Thursday 16th August).

Among those celebrating their success are twin sisters Hannah and Jordan Tingay, 19, from Silverdale, who are both heading to The University of Manchester to follow in their mother’s footsteps by becoming nurses. Jordan said: “I’m happy that me and my sister both managed to get into uni to do want we want. My mum’s been a nurse for 30 years and she’s really proud of us.”

Aspiring engineer Khaled Zoubiri, 21, from Mickleover, is progressing to The University of Manchester to study Chemical Engineering, after achieving four A grades in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. Khaled failed to complete his exams at school the first time round, so for him, this was his “last chance” at A Levels. He said: “I'm so pleased, it was good to take some time out to decide what I really wanted to do. I’ve been working at Subway during my year out and alongside my studies, but I’ve always had an end goal to strive for which has been good. I'm very pleased to be going to uni, and my family are really happy.”

Harmony Goodwin, 19, from Newark, achieved A, A, B grades in Psychology, Biology and Chemistry and is off to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nottingham. She said: “I feel amazing and I can’t wait to go to university! I really thought it had all gone wrong because the exam season seemed so stressful, but I did it! I'm going to be a vet!”

College friends Emma Stirland and Savannah Wildgust are continuing their love of English at the University of Nottingham, studying English Language and Literature. Emma was over the moon with her A*, A, A grades and Savannah who achieved a clean sweep of As. Savannah said: “I’ve had a really positive experience at High Pavement; my teachers have really supported me to get the grades I wanted. Eventually I’d love to become an English teacher and I’m hoping to inspire other students the way my teachers have inspired me.”
Head of Nottingham College High Pavement Sixth Form, Jeannette Mortimer, said: “Results day is an important milestone for our students, which will take them to the next step on their journey, which for many is a higher level course at College or university, a higher or degree apprenticeship, or employment.

“We’re really pleased with our 98% overall pass rate this year; it just goes to show how much hard work our students have put in over the past two years. Today is about celebrating their achievements, but also to recognise our lecturers who have given them such support along the way.

“This is an exciting time for our students and we wish them every success for the future.”
