News: We’re celebrating our libraries in a digital world!

As part of national Libraries Week (7-12 October), we’re highlighting the importance of libraries in a digital world with a variety of events and activities for staff and students to enjoy across our campus libraries.
During the week, we’ll be showcasing the many ways we are engaging with our students through technology, building digital skills and confidence, encouraging digital participation and inclusion, supporting health, wellbeing and education, and the importance of staying safe online.
There are lots of exciting workshops taking place, and plenty of fun activities for students to try, including: ‘an hour of code’ though a Minecraft programme, a virtual reality experience through an *Oculus Rift, the chance to try out Virtual Reality headsets, a session on how to ‘build a robot’, and a ‘build the library of the future’ Lego competition.
On top of that, our Wellbeing team will have stalls throughout the week, plus a gig and interactive session by alternative rock band ‘The HARA’, in the gym at our Maid Marian Way campus on Friday 11th at 11am.
Students are encouraged to attend during independent learning time and during class times where appropriate.
Come along and experience something digitally new and exciting!
