As part of national Libraries Week (7-12 October), we’re highlighting the importance of libraries in a digital world with a variety of events and activities for staff and students to enjoy across our campus libraries.

Dur­ing the week, we’ll be show­cas­ing the many ways we are engag­ing with our stu­dents through tech­nol­o­gy, build­ing dig­i­tal skills and con­fi­dence, encour­ag­ing dig­i­tal par­tic­i­pa­tion and inclu­sion, sup­port­ing health, well­be­ing and edu­ca­tion, and the impor­tance of stay­ing safe online.

There are lots of excit­ing work­shops tak­ing place, and plen­ty of fun activ­i­ties for stu­dents to try, includ­ing: an hour of code’ though a Minecraft pro­gramme, a vir­tu­al real­i­ty expe­ri­ence through an *Ocu­lus Rift, the chance to try out Vir­tu­al Real­i­ty head­sets, a ses­sion on how to build a robot’, and a build the library of the future’ Lego competition.

On top of that, our Well­be­ing team will have stalls through­out the week, plus a gig and inter­ac­tive ses­sion by alter­na­tive rock band The HARA’, in the gym at our Maid Mar­i­an Way cam­pus on Fri­day 11th at 11am.

Stu­dents are encour­aged to attend dur­ing inde­pen­dent learn­ing time and dur­ing class times where appropriate.

Come along and expe­ri­ence some­thing dig­i­tal­ly new and exciting!
