Oliver's Pub & Kitchen is a successful and busy bar/restaurant based in Eastwood, and are looking to offer an opportunity for someone looking to begin their career within the hospitality industry as an apprentice chef.
Within this role you will gain skills and qualifications pivotal to becoming a chef. Working in a fast paced environment you will gain practical experience in the day to day duties involved in working in a professional and busy kitchen. This is a fantastic opportunity if you are passionate about pursuing a career as a chef and have a genuine interest in the hospitality sector.
Duties will include:
- Assist and support with day to day food preparation
- Receive and prepare produce and ingredients to the required standard
- Assist in the preparation of finished dishes to the required standard
- Play your part in the good order and management of the kitchen
- Clean kitchen and equipment in accordance with Oliver's Pub and Restaurant Standards
- Work within all current food safety regulations (as documented in FM sheets)
- Monitor and report daily stock levels and receive deliveries
- Check all food deliveries for accuracy and quality
- Adhere to stock rotation standards
- Inform manager of stock levels
- Assist with kitchen Legal Compliance
Assist with documenting compliance with all current company and legislative requirements including:
- HSE/Fire Safety
- Insurance requirements

The post holder will be able to demonstrate strong organisational and team working skills. They will have a good general knowledge of ICT packages and demonstrate a good level of spoken and written literacy.
A*-D maths and English (9-3) or equivalent at GCSE desirable but not essential.
Candidate must be able to travel to the workplace according to working hours and be willing to work public holidays in accordance with the role.
Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation.

This apprenticeship is work based learning, therefore most of the time you will be working at the employer's address, however you will attend college once a week at Clarendon College.
- Commis Chef Level 2 - 18 months
- Level 2 Commis Chef Standard
- Functional Skills English, maths and ICT Level 1 if required
This apprenticeship is 1 day per week at the college term time only 9am - 5pm with the other days based at the work place. Training will be day release one day a week (Wednesday) to Clarendon College Cookery School.
