The Old Wharf is a place to meet, eat, refuel and rest those weary legs. The Old Wharf is looking to recruit an apprentice to assist in their Tea Rooms in creating their delicious menu and vibrant atmosphere.
The role will include the following duties:
- Customer service
- Product knowledge
- Personal, food and kitchen hygiene control and housekeeping compliance to procedures
- Research and development and market research
- Product development
- Stock control
- Costings and purchasing
- Portion control
- Production schedules
- Booking schedules and management
- Legalities and compliance to regulations

- The post holder will be able to demonstrate strong organisational and team working skills
- They will have a good general knowledge of ICT packages and demonstrate a good level of spoken and written literacy
- Has good communication skills
- Has excellent time keeping skills
A minimum of 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grade D/3 or above including maths and English.
Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation.

This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore most of the time you will be working at the employers address. Depending on your training you will only need to attend college in Nottingham for initial assessments, enrolment and a few other rare occasions.

The Old Wharf tearooms beside the tranquil Hickling Basin. The tearoom boasts several different areas inside and out. There are many tables on the first floor with idyllic scenes looking out across the water, on the ground floor we have more seating for weary walkers and our four legged friends to relax. Our venue is used daily but can be booked for special events & parties. Outside we have two large seating areas, by the waters edge, watch the world go by over lunch.
