Vale Medical Group (Long Clawson Medical Practice and Stackyard and Woolsthorpe Surgery) is looking to recruit a positive and adaptable person to join our busy Reception/Admin Team.
During this apprenticeship, you will be fully trained to be able to receive, assist and direct patients and visitors in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way, without breaching any confidentiality guidelines.
To apply for this role, you will need to be a good communicator, in person and on the phone, projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors. Along with Reception duties, you will provide general administration assistance to the practice team.
Duties within the role will include:
- Answer telephone calls coming into Reception
- Process appointment requests
- Deal with visit requests
- Receiving patients consulting with members of Practice team and allocate them to the appropriate clinical list
- Ensure building security
- Opening and sorting mail
- Faxing, filing and photocopying
- Registration of new patients
- Process patient change of address
- Process repeat prescription requests (in accordance with Practice guidelines)
- Scanning medical records into patient notes and sending tasks to GP
- Laminating and designing displays for the waiting room
- Keeping reception clean and tidy
- To adhere to practice policies and procedures
- Any other ad-hoc admin duties as required

The post holder will be able to demonstrate a good general knowledge of ICT packages and demonstrate a good level of spoken and written literacy and will have the ability to use own judgement and common sense.
A*-C or 9-4 in maths and English at GCSE or equivalent
The employer has stated that the applicant must be able to drive with access to their own vehicle. The reason is the practice is very rural and there is no public transport between our three sites and the apprentice would need to work at all three sites . The concern is if they have to move half way through the day they may not be able to do so if they don't have transport.
Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation.

This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore most of the time you will be working at the employer’s address.
Intermediate Apprenticeship in Customer Service Practioner Level 2 – 15 months.
This apprenticeship is all delivered in the workplace however you will be given 20% of your paid hours off the job training to work on your apprenticeship training and portfolio building
There is potential opportunity for a permanent role within the practice following successful completion of the apprenticeship.
25 days holiday per year plus Bank Holidays and free parking.
