Apprentice Teaching Assistant


Job description

Elston, All Saints Anglican/Methodist Primary School is a small village primary school providing fantastic learning opportunities for children. They are seeking a hardworking and compassionate candidate to take on the role as a teaching assistant within their school.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to begin a career in education. Working primarily with children aged 4-11 years.

The roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Helping set up and arranging activities
  • Helping set up the classroom
  • Helping supervise the children in the classroom - supporting children with a range of abilities and needs
  • Help with lesson planning
  • Establishing constructive relationships with children and interacting with them according to individual needs
  • Building relationships with other teachers, staff and parents
  • Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Assisting with the planning of learning activities
  • Monitoring pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately record achievements/progress as directed
  • Making displays
  • Supporting with whole school events

*This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore you will be based at the employers address most of the time. You will only need to attend college in Nottingham City Centre for initial assessments and any mandatory training.

Qualifications required

A*-C/9-4 GCSE in maths and English (or equivalent).

Candidate requirements

Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation.

Please note that if the successful applicant is found prior to the closing date the vacancy maybe withdrawn early.

This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore most of the time you will be working at the employers address. Depending on your training you will only need to attend college in Nottingham for initial assessments, enrolment and a few other rare occasions.

Training provided

Teaching Assistant Standard Level 3 -

Functional Skills if required.

Future progression

Possible permanent position on the completion of the apprenticeship.
