Do you have a flair for fashion and a desire to begin a business admin career? Look no further, SPX Opticians are looking to recruit a hardworking and ambitious Business Admin Apprentice to join their busy independent opticians.

SPX Opticians, based in on Nuthall Road, Nottingham is looking for an apprentice to join their small friendly team to provide full day to day administrative support to the daily running of the opticians. Providing overall duties such as dealing with customer's face to face, booking appointments and assisting with pre-testing, as well as helping customers choose suitable eyewear.

You will gain a recognised qualification and invaluable on the job training in a state of the art opticians. You will also be given a sponsorship opportunity to qualify as a dispensing optician upon completion of your business admin apprenticeship.

Duties within the role will include:

  • First point of contact for customers over the phone and in the opticians
  • Sending paperwork to customers
  • Contacting customers when their glasses are ready
  • Booking appointments
  • Filing customer records
  • To utilise specialist product knowledge when required
  • To maintain a clean and tidy working environment
  • To complete compulsory training as required

Skills required

The post holder will be able to demonstrate strong organisational and team working skills. They will have a good general knowledge of ICT packages and demonstrate a good level of spoken and written literacy and be confident on the phone and face to face.

Qualifications required

A*-D or equivalent maths and English at GCSE desirable but not essential.

Candidate requirements

Candidate must be able to travel to the workplace according to working hours, and to the college for day release.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation.

Training provided

Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 2 - 12 months:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills English, maths and ICT Level 1 or 2 if required

This apprenticeship is 1 day every other week at the college term time only 9am - 5pm with the other days based at the work place.

Future progression

Potential opportunity for a permanent role within the company following successful completion of the apprenticeship.
