Job description

Our ecology team work across terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments in a wide range of sectors alongside architects, engineers, planners, economists and other environmental specialists on important projects providing the full range of ecological services including habitat and species surveys, impact assessment etc.

This opportunity has evolved due to an increase in workload and will provide exposure to projects across various sectors including government, energy, and transportation projects. When an apprentice starts with us, we pair them with an experienced member of the team who will guide and mentor them through their initial period working on live projects. Their initial role will support and assist our National Ecology Admin Lead within the ecology team on a wide variety of projects and tasks.

Duties will include:

  • General administration duties to include typing, printing, copying
  • Submitting applications
  • Inputting various information on to our CRM system
  • Contacting clients via phone and email
  • Chasing documentation
  • Compiling reports
  • Replying to customer queries
  • Successfully meet specific deadlines providing a proactive approach to planning, prioritising and implementing day-to-day duties
  • Organise, attend and proactively contribute to meetings as required

The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team based in the office with the potential to visit other offices as and when required. In addition good organisation and planning skills are also required to support a team which works safely and to a high technical standard. The candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills as will be dealing with surveyors and clients on project work.

This role will combine work-based on-the-job training and learning with further studies and provides an opportunity to develop skills within a supporting environment which encourages challenge and collaborative behaviours.

Applicants must be willing to progress their career after an initial probationary period to undertake a day release course at an identified Further Education College to Business Administration Level 2.

Qualifications required

Minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at level 4 above, including mathematics & English.

Training provided

Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 2 – Duration 12 months.

  • Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills English, maths and ICT Level 1 if required

This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore most of the time you will be working at the employer’s address. Depending on your training you will only need to attend college in Nottingham for initial assessments, enrolment and fortnightly day release.
