PWP Building Services specialist divisions are pleased to be working alongside a local college offering fantastic apprenticeship opportunity. They are currently looking for a ICT apprentice at their Bestwood Village Office.

The Role:

The right candidate for PWP will be someone who is genuinely looking to develop their career for whom they are prepared to invest our time, experience and offer of continued employment.

This initial role as an IT Apprentice is an exciting opportunity to understand, appreciate and begin your career.

As part of a busy team, you will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm, self-discipline, be able to receive and follow instructions accurately and methodically and demonstrate an aptitude for the role. You will report to your appointed line manager and be expected to work to targets and deadlines.

As an IT Apprentice a working day may include the following duties as directed:

  • To assist in providing support to all staff for hardware, software, audio-visual, printers and telephone equipment
  • To assist in the installation and configuration of software applications – Setting up and configuring new laptops and desktops
  • Assisting in diagnosing and resolving technical issues
  • To assist with the purchasing, set up, maintenance/repair of computers and audio -visual equipment etc.
  • To help produce and maintain IT statistics, reports, checklists and other documentation where necessary
  • To be a flexible and supportive member of the team
  • To maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Attend and take part in team meetings & regular reviews with your line manager etc.
  • Prepare for and attend assessment meetings and participate in relevant training programmes as required
  • Throughout the training period you will be expected to complete all educational and training as required
  • Adhere to the Health and Safety regulations and the organisations Policies and Procedures
  • Sign a learning contract with the training provider and adhere to the agreement

Skills required

You will need to be able to demonstrate both written and verbal communication skills as well as strong ICT skills and problem solving.

Qualifications required

A* - D/9-3 maths, English and ICT GCSE (or equivalent) desirable but not essential. Candidate will be required to meet minimum levels of requirement through computer based assessments.

Candidate requirements

Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation.

This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore most of the time you will be working at the employer’s address. Depending on your training you will only need to attend college in Nottingham for initial assessments, enrolment and a few other rare occasions.

Training provided

Intermediate Apprenticeship in information and Communications Technology - 12 months.

  • Diploma in ICT Professional Competence - Level 2
  • Award in ICT Systems and Principles - Level 2
  • Functional Skills English, maths and ICT Level 1
