Job description

Are you looking to begin a career in IT? MTS based in Leicester are looking to recruit an enthusiastic IT Apprentice to assist them in their growing business. You will be responsible for providing support to a range of customers with their IT queries.

The IT Technician Apprenticeship role will include but not limited to:

  • Work with clients to understand details of faults
  • Resolving faults and explaining to the client the work you have carried out
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in person, remotely and via phone
  • Fixing and maintaining equipment such as printers, laptops, PC's and tablets
  • Assisting with system upgrades and setting up new devices
  • Recording problems within CRM systems so that task histories can be reviewed
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Identify the need for system and equipment updates
  • To co-ordinate and provide prioritised technical support and advice to clients
  • To assist in the design, implementation and configuration of IT systems at client sites
  • To ensure adequate arrangements are in place for the security of data, systems and hardware
  • To respond without delay to clients IT needs and issues
  • To successfully complete relevant college training and demonstrate a commitment to continuous development
  • To demonstrate a willingness to work flexibly sometimes outside of core hours, in response to service demands
  • To manage time effectively and achieve targets and deadlines
  • To maintain an awareness of new and innovative technologies
  • To perform such other tasks as may reasonably be required by the company Directors
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with the company Equal Opportunities Policy

Skills required

  • Able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Problem solving and customer service skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own is desirable but not essential

Qualifications required

  • 9-4/A* - D maths, English and ICT GCSE (or equivalent) desirable but not essential
  • Candidate will be required to meet minimum levels of requirement through computer based assessments

Candidate requirements

  • There is a mandatory day release once per month at Nottingham College
  • Candidate must be available to start as soon as possible
  • Candidate must be able to travel to the workplace according to working hours
  • The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage guide (ANMW):
  • Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation
  • Please note if the successful applicant is found prior to the closing date the vacancy maybe withdrawn early

Training provided

Intermediate Apprenticeship in information and Communications Technology - 12 months:

  • Diploma in ICT Professional Competence - Level 2
  • Award in ICT Systems and Principles - Level 2
  • Functional Skills English, maths and ICT Level 1

Future progression

Potential opportunity for a permanent role within the company following successful completion of the apprenticeship.
