Job description

TrustMed Pharmacy based in Leicester are offering a hard-working and enthusiastic candidate an opportunity to start their career in the pharmaceutical health sciences sector as an Apprentice Pharmacy Technician.

The successful candidate will manage the supply of medicines and devices in a pharmacy and assist pharmacists with advisory services. The actual work setting will determine the specific areas of activity that the Pharmacy Technician undertakes, but typically, their role will include the following:

  • Providing safe and effective pharmacy services
  • Supply medicines and devices to patients, whether on prescription or over the counter
  • Achieving the best outcomes through a patient’s medicines
  • Assemble medicines for prescriptions
  • Provide information to patients and other healthcare professionals
  • Manage areas of medicines supply such as dispensaries
  • Supervise other pharmacy staff
  • Answering customers questions face to face or by phone
  • Pre-packing, assembling and labelling medicines
  • Referring problems or queries to the pharmacist

The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, proactive and show initiative. They will be a team player and able to prioritise workload at a busy time, remaining calm.

They will be dedicated and willing to work in line with strict procedural guidelines to ensure the assignments are handed in on time.

The ideal candidate will also have a mature attitude and understand the importance of confidentiality when handling the personal data of patients and customers.

  • GCSE or equivalent English, maths & a science subject 4 or C or Level 2 pass (Essential)

Training provided

You will study Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians as part of the apprenticeship.

(General Pharmaceutical Council level 3).

This is delivered at Nottingham College City Hub one day per week during term time for 24 months.

You will need to sit an end point/external assessment (EPA) to achieve your apprenticeship with the awarding body Pearsons/Edexcel in the last 3 months of your apprenticeship.
