Job description

Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager, the post holder will provide financial support to their financial management teams. The role will involve providing support to Financial Management by maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the financial ledgers to ensure the robustness of the financial information provided.


  • To adopt a proactive and assertive approach when working with customers and finance colleagues
  • To interact in a positive and supportive relationship with budget holders, managers, customers and colleagues
  • The post will demand corporate awareness and the need for confidentiality and discretion


  • To support all the directorate financial managers and teams in preparing accurate and timely monthly and annual management and financial accounts
  • To provide financial information to the finance teams and managers as required
  • To input financial information such as budget and expenditure journals into the General Ledger
  • To investigate and interpret information from the various feeder systems
  • To maintain the distribution of monthly financial reports to budget holders

To support the finance teams with duties, including:

  • Correcting rejected codes and ensuring that income and expenditure is correctly reported
  • Processing bank and agency recharges to directorates and distributing the associated management information to managers
  • Helping with journal and budget input and other routine transaction processing
  • To undertake the analysis of income and expenditure budget reports, investigating queries raised by budget holders (via the finance teams) and analysing detailed data to identify errors/discrepancies/variances
  • To assist in the maintenance of control and suspense accounts
  • To raise sundry debtor requests as instructed by the finance teams
  • To undertake any other duties as may be required that are appropriate to the post

  • To maintain & develop working relationships within the Trust
  • To ensure compliance with appropriate HR polices and practices
  • To undertake and positively support a personal development programme
  • To undertake other duties that may be reasonably required as specified by the Assistant Director of Financial Management as appropriate to the post
  • To maintain prolonged concentration when inputting data, checking information and when answering queries
