PE Teaching Assistant Apprentice

Job description

King Edwin Primary School are looking to recruit a hardworking and ambitious PE teaching assistant to join their lively and friendly school.

King Edwin Primary School is offering a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and hardworking individual with an interest in pursuing a career as a PE teacher. You will be working with all age groups from reception to year 6 and leading sports teams at lunchtimes and after school.

Duties within the role include:

  • Helping out with activities with the children
  • Aid to deliver P.E lessons
  • facilitate outdoor games and play at lunchtimes and after school
  • Coaching the school’s sports clubs

You will also be asked to provide class support which will include:

  • Helping out with activities
  • Setting up activities and clearing them away
  • supervise the children in the classroom
  • Making displays
  • Offer support to individuals and groups during activities
  • Other general duties as and when required

Skills required

  • Good fitness levels due to the sports coaching element
  • Ability to play/coach a mix of different sports
  • Ability to communicate with both Children and Adults

Qualifications required

5 A* - C/9-4 GCSE including maths and English (or equivalent) essential as this is an advanced programme.

Candidate requirements

Candidate will be required to have a full DBS (criminal records check) before commencing work at the school with children. Candidate must be able to travel to the workplace according to working hours.

Candidate must be available to start as soon as possible. Candidate must be able to travel to the workplace easily.

Training provided

Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Sports Development.

Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Physical in Education and School Sport.

Both will include: Functional Skills qualification in English and maths Level 2 if required.

This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore most of the time you will be working at the employer’s address. You will only need to attend college in Nottingham for initial assessments, enrolment and a few other rare occasions.

Future progression

Possibility of a permanent contract at the end of the apprenticeship.
