As a carpenter you will work with wood on the structure of a building this will include windows doors, skirting boards, and other wood items.

The Role: Long Description

As a carpenter you will work with wood on the structure of a building this will include windows doors, skirting boards, and other wood items.

Throughout, this will involve the use of traditional hand-skills such as measuring, marking, cutting, shaping, fitting and finishing. You will also use a variety of tools including power tools which after training you will be responsible for their use, daily maintenance and safe storage.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Learning all aspects of the role of a Carpenter whilst working on projects and attending day release training
  • Be totally committed to customer satisfaction through the quality of the end result
  • Use of different tools, materials and processes and becoming more competent throughout the progress of apprenticeship
  • Assisting colleagues with tasks and keeping work areas tidy
  • Learning the different tools/techniques all to be used in a safe and efficient manner
  • Making sure, you contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and are not a risk to yourself, colleagues or members of the public

Housekeeping and on the job cleanliness are essential to ensure that high standards and the good reputation of the company is maintained.

Minimum entry requirements: Maths and English Language grades A*-D or 9-3 (or equivalent qualification).
