On the 10th July we were advised that eligible college students will be entitled for additional meal support through the summer holidays. We will be sending out additional vouchers to eligible students. We are working on this as a priority and we will continue to update this page with further information. At this time you do not need to contact us. However if you can ensure that your personal details (address/email/mobile) are up to date as we may contact you via any of these methods with further news.
Free College Meal for students who are subject to a no recourse to public funds restrictions
During the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Government are temporarily extending free college meal eligibility to include some children of groups who have no recourse to public funds (NRPF).
These groups are:
- children of Zambrano carers
- children of families with no recourse to public funds with a right to remain in the UK on grounds of private and family life under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights
- children of families receiving support under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989 who are also subject to a no recourse to public funds restriction
These groups are also subject to a maximum household earnings threshold of £7,400 per annum.
We are also temporarily extending eligibility to children of a subset of failed asylum seekers supported under Section 4 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. This group is not subject to a maximum household earnings threshold.
This guidance is applicable to 31 May 2020 and will be reviewed before 1 June 2020.
If you feel that you/your family fit into one of the categories above please contact the Student Finance Team so they can see how they can support you.
