Bricklaying (Level 1 City & Guilds Diploma) — Full-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you want to pursue a career in bricklaying, enjoy building and want to develop your skills in this trade.

You’ll learn a range of building techniques involving bricks, including cavity walls and solid walls, and importantly learn how to work safely on a site in a bricklaying role.

You’ll learn how different trades work side by side and hand in hand on a construction site.

You can expect skilled tutors who will ensure you understand the bricklaying process and how to use tools safely and confidently. You’ll work in dedicated workshops where you’ll get lots of building and brickwork practice.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 1-3, including English at grade 2 and Maths at grade 2. Alternatively, a relevant Entry 3 vocational qualification would be considered.

Teaching & assessment

You will be assessed by completing multiple choice papers, practical assessments and external online tests.

Progression

Choose to follow with further study at the College on a Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying or onto another construction trade, or perhaps move into an Apprenticeship with a construction employer.

Additional information

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
