Electrical Installation (Level 1 City & Guilds Diploma) — Full-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you’ve got an interest in finding out how things work and are thinking about pursuing a career in electrics or a related profession.

You’ll learn both practical and theoretical elements of electrical installation including where power comes from, how to work with electricity safely, the different power needs of various household and commercial appliances and basic principles of wiring.

You can expect to gain knowledge and confidence to work with electrics and will do so with experienced electricians and with safe and up-to-date equipment and facilities.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 3–1 (D–G), including English Language and Maths at grades 3 (D) or above.

Teaching & assessment

You will be assessed by a series of written and practical assessments.

Progression

You could progress to further study at Nottingham College onto a Electrical Level 2 programme as long as you successfully complete the Level 1 course, achieve English Language and Maths at grade 4 (C) and pass a skills test.

Alternatively you could progress to an Electrical Apprenticeship so you can further develop your knowledge and skills within a real industry setting.

Additional information

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
