Course outline

This course is perfect if you’d like to offer great customer service to people flying to far-flung destinations.

Mandatory Units:

  • Health and safety
  • Aviation security
  • Aviation communication
  • Customer service
  • Problem solving

Optional Units include:

  • Check in procedures and travel documentation
  • Passenger baggage processing
  • Supporting passengers with special requirements
  • Ground services
  • Loading and unloading of aircraft
  • Aircraft marshalling

You can expect lots of situation-based training to get you thinking on your feet, scenario based assessments, as well as practical/written assignments. Nottingham College will help you to gain valuable experience on work placements that give you a real insight into the industry.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (A*–D), including English Language and Maths – one of English Language or Maths must be grade 9–4 (A*–C). Functional Skills Level 1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills Level 2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 4 (C) or above.

Progression

Choose to follow with further studies at Nottingham College on a Level 3 programme in Aviation Operations. Career opportunities include roles working for an airport or airline in the exciting aviation industry.

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
