Studying a language can open up gateways to experiences and careers all over the world. French is spoken by 77 million people and is an official language in 29 countries including: Canada, Switzerland, Madagascar and the Seychelles.

If you’re interested in working abroad, or in a career with international travel, studying a language will give you a great advantage.

You will study this course alongside 2 or 3 other A Levels and you will be able to select your chosen subjects when you apply online.

This course will allow you to build on your existing language skills and explore the culture and society of France.

Topics include: (AS Level) development of language skills: listening; reading; speaking and writing development; topic study; (A Level) further development of language skills; topic study.

2 year A Level Programme:

  • To study 3 A Levels you’ll need at least 5 GCSE’s at grades 9-4 (A*-C) including GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 (C) or above
  • To study 4 A Levels you’ll need at least 6 GCSE’s at grades 9-6 (A*-C) including GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 (C) or above
  • One of your GCSEs must be a Grade 6 (B) or above in GCSE French
  • All applicants will complete an assessment at enrolment

1 year Intensive A Level Programme:

  • One full A Level at grade C or above
  • Five or more GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths
  • One of your GCSEs must be a Grade 6 (B) or above in GCSE French
  • Complete a successful interview and assessment


    Teaching & assessment

    You’ll take a combination of written and spoken tests.

    Progression

    You could progress to a related higher education course such as languages, business, international affairs or teaching.

    There are lots of careers open to you such as translator, linguist, teacher or jobs in the international business world or travel industry.
