Acting (ALRA Foundation Certificate with HNC Performing Arts Level 4) - Full-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you have a talent and passion for acting and the performing arts and want to refine your skills further in preparation for drama school or university. This course is run in association with the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA) and leads to an HNC qualification.

We are really excited to be running a Foundation Course in association with ALRA at Nottingham College. Students will experience excellent teaching from Industry Professionals in key areas in order to prepare them for full time Drama School training. Students will focus on vocal and physical development as actors, as well as specific training in Acting for Screen and Audition technique. The course will culminate in a full scale production in one of our professional theatre spaces.

Nottingham is a vibrant and diverse city with a lively student population, which makes it a great place to live and study. Students on the Foundation course will get the opportunity to work closely with Theatre Design students from Nottingham Trent University who will design their major production.

We are offering this course as a BTEC Higher National Certificate, which means that students will gain a Level 4 vocational qualification on completion of the course.

On the course, you’ll learn and develop further skills in acting, voice, plus devising and producing theatre, through specialist classes and projects during the year. You’ll visit the theatre both locally and nationally, reviewing performance to get a taste of current industry trends. You will also have visitors from industry sharing their professional experience with you.

You can expect tutors that have a wealth of industry experience and knowledge, the opportunity to explore different texts, periods and genres of theatre, and the opportunity to devise your own pieces. You’ll work with students from other courses to create performance material, giving you the chance to develop effective communication skills and confidence.
