Course outline

This course is perfect if you’re looking for a career-related (vocational) competency-based course that will equip you with the advanced skills and knowledge you’ll need to work in an office environment.

You’ll learn:

  • How to produce complex business documents
  • About the functions and roles within business
  • Supporting recruitment and selection procedures
  • Working in an administration team
  • OCR document presentation
  • OCR word processing
  • Various IT skills such as
    • Spreadsheets
    • PowerPoint presentations

You can expect helpful and experienced tutors with all with experience in industry and who will help you master the various skills needed to work in a business setting. You’ll carry out a range of college-based work assessments and assignments.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (A*-D), including English Language and Maths – one of English Language or Maths must be grade 9–4 (A*–C). Functional Skills Level 1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills Level 2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 4 (C) or above.

Progression

Choose to follow with further study at Nottingham College, an Apprenticeship in Business Administration or a career as an administrator, secretary, personal assistant (PA), administrative team leader or office manager.
