Applied Science for Dental Technology (BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate) — Part-time

Course outline

This course will allow you to develop the theoretical and practical knowledge in in order to progress onto the foundation Degree in Dental Technology.

The qualification is delivered over 1 year on a part time basis. You’ll learn a full range of scientific principles across key areas such as biology, chemistry and physics. You’ll also do science-based fieldwork and practical laboratory experiments.

You can expect a professional study environment in well-equipped laboratories, and experienced tutors. You’ll carry out experiments and practical and theory-based assignments as well as exams.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (A*–C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grades 9–4 (A*–C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths. You will need to have all three Sciences at GCSE grade 9–4 (A*-C), Double Science, or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification at Merit or above with English and Maths GCSE grades 9–4 (A*–C).

Teaching & assessment

A combination of externally assessed exams and portfolio building.

Progression

Completing students will be able to progress onto the Foundation Degree in Dental Technology.
