On this course you’ll learn the skills needed for a career in painting and decorating while earning a wage.

This course is for those employed in the construction industry as a painter and decorator. You will come into College one day a week to complete the underpinning knowledge and build the portfolio of evidence you need for your qualifications.The apprenticeship is made up of the following elements:

  • NVQ 2 in Painting and Decorating
  • Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating
  • Employment rights and responsibilities
  • Personal learning and thinking skills

Construction Building - Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting - Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2)

Duration

18 - 24 months

Entry requirements
  • You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week as a painter and decorator.
  • You will also need GCSEs at grades A* to D/9 to 3 or equivalent in English Language and Maths. Some employers may require additional qualifications depending on the role.

Adults who are aged 19+ with appropriate industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

All applicants will be required to undertake an assessment in English and maths prior to enrolling.

Assessment

Each unit is continually assessed. You will present evidence of competence via practical assessments and production of a personal portfolio.

Progression

With a satisfactory tutor recommendation, good performance and commitment at work, it is possible for you to progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating.
