Activity Leadership - Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2)

Apprenticeship outline

The majority of this programme will be undertaken within the workplace. This could be at a leisure centre, a school, coaching a sports team or in a gym/fitness environment. There will also be occasional class-based sessions at college. You will need to have a contract of employment for a minimum of 30 hours per week for a 12 month period.

The course consists of:

  • NVQ Level 2 (Activity Leadership)
  • Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning
  • Other industry/coaching qualifications as directed by the employer

Activity Leadership - Leadership - Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2)

Duration

12 months

Entry requirements
  • You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job but we can assist you in finding a placement.
  • You will also need 5 GCSEs at grades A* to D/9 to 3 or equivalent in English Language and Maths. Some employers may require additional qualifications depending on the role.

Adults who are aged 19+ with appropriate industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

All applicants will be required to undertake an assessment in English and maths prior to enrolling.

Assessment

You will be regularly assessed in the workplace and will produce an e-portfolio of evidence to show your understanding of the knowledge required. Assessments will include a combination of practical observations, verbal discussions, written assignments and case studies.

Progression

It is possible to progress onto one of the following:

  • Level 3 courses in Sport
  • YMCA Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training
  • Advanced Apprenticeship

You are expected to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
