Course outline

This course is perfect if you’re looking for a career in the world of business and want to learn more about the vast options available, including marketing, accounting and human resources. It will equip you with work-related practical skills as well as sound business theory and knowledge to help you progress

You’ll learn practical, work-related skills and by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands, you will learn about the business world.

There are 18 units and you will study half of the units each year. You’ll cover:

  • The business environment
  • Business resources
  • Introduction to marketing
  • Business accounting
  • Management accounting
  • Relationship marketing
  • Developing teams in business
  • Recruitment and selection

You can expect to become fully prepared for the business world, by learning key industry skills from experienced tutors.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (A*–C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grades 9–4 (A*–C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and Maths GCSE grades 9–4 (A*–C).


There are externally assessed exams and assignments including making presentations, reports, poster presentations and role play.


Choose to follow with higher education programmes at college or university, such as our foundation degree in Business Management. you could also choose a related subject or apply for employment in industry.
