Caravan and Motorhome - Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3)

The Caravan and Motorhome National Apprenticeship programme has been designed in conjunction with the National Caravan Council (NCC) to specifically develop technician apprentices to equip them with the highest level of skills and practical ability within the Caravan and Motorhome industry.

The Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship is structured around the IMI Level 3 Diploma in Caravan and Motorhome Maintenance and Repair and Level 3 Customer Service Specialist standard which were developed in conjunction with the NCC. In addition, they include Functional Skills in Maths and English at the required level, as well as Employment Rights and Responsibilities.

A residential programme is delivered at EMTEC’s Caravan and Motorhome Training Facility, in Ruddington, near Nottingham several times a year to complement the work-based learning the employer will provide the apprentice.

Framework/standard

Autocare Technician - Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2)

Included in the qualification:

  • IMI Level 3 Diploma in Caravan & Motorhome Maintenance and Repair
  • Level 3 Customer Service Specialist
  • IMI Level 2 Award in Electrically Propelled Vehicle (EV)
  • IMI Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling (FGas)
  • NCC Caravan Service Award (CSA)
  • NCC Low Voltage (LV)
  • NCC Extra Low Voltage (ELV)
  • UK Certification STGW (Gas safety for the use of LPG in Caravans and Motorhomes)
Duration

18 months

Level Level 3
Entry requirements
  • You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job but we can assist you in finding a placement
  • You will also need 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (A*–D), including English Language and maths – one of English Language or maths must be grade 9–4 (A*–C). Functional Skills Level 1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills Level 2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 4 (C) or above. Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.

Adults who are aged 19+ with appropriate industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

All applicants will be required to undertake an assessment in English and maths prior to enrolling.

Assessment

Training is delivered via a block release programme at a dedicated Centre of Excellence Training Academy in Nottingham. We partner with OEM supply chain to provide apprentices access to the latest technically advanced materials, provide knowledge and access competencies that participants can put into direct action in their workshops when returning from training.
