Ceramics for Beginners/Improvers at the Nottingham Ceramics School — Part-time
Course outline
These ceramics courses are based at Nottingham Ceramics School and are aimed at complete beginners, those who wish to refresh the basics and improvers who have completed the beginners course.
Ceramics for Beginners course
Beginners will be guided through the main hand-building techniques of pinching, coiling, slabbing using different clay bodies as well as an introduction to throwing. Alongside this you will be taught a range of different decorative processes using coloured slips and glazing techniques.
Under the guidance and support of your tutor, the aim is for you to build a good foundation of skills and knowledge and understand the importance of safe studio practice so you gain the confidence to work independently on your own ideas.
Ceramics for Improvers course
Leading on from our Ceramics for Beginners course, the Ceramics for Improvers course builds on the basic skills already learned. Students will be guided through self-directed ceramic projects. This course is open to anyone with basic experience of ceramics.
You can view the fantastic creative works of our students on our Creative Showcase website below.
