Ceramics for Beginners - Part-time
Course outline
Our beginners ceramics course is based at Stoney Street in the City Centre and is aimed at complete beginners and those who wish to refresh the basics.
Working in our well-resourced ceramics department, you will be guided through the main hand-building techniques of pinching, coiling, slabbing using different clay bodies as well as an introduction to throwing. Alongside this you will be taught a range of different decorative processes using coloured slips and glazing techniques.
Under the guidance and support of your tutor, the aim is for you to build a good foundation of skills and knowledge and understand the importance of safe studio practice so you gain the confidence to work independently on your own ideas.
