Course outline

Competency based questions can sound a little scary as they are so involved. However, they are just a way for employers to make sure you know what you are talking about. Making sure that you answer these questions properly can stand you a great chance of getting the job!

This course will help to equip you with some basic skills and knowledge to support you to complete competency based applications and interviews.

Time permitting, the course will cover the following:

  • Importance of person / job specifications in applying for jobs
  • Matching skills / qualities and experience for applications
  • Example competency questions areas
  • How to structure a competency
  • Power words to use for competencies
  • Introduction to competency based interviewing

  • Preparing example competencies for interviews
  • Practice competency interview techniques
