Introduction to Computer Skills — Part-time
Course outline
On this course you will gain a basic knowledge of computers or improve your current skills in a relaxed environment.
If you are a beginner, you will learn how to:
- Switch on the computer and log on and off safely
- Become familiar with the keyboard
- Input simple data into Word or access the Internet
- Print and save a document
Improvers will cover:
- Entering and and editing data
- Checking documents using IT tools
- Formatting to enhance a document
- Inserting images
- Using the internet safely
- File management

Entry requirements | You must be aged 19+ and have a good standard of English as you will be required to complete a short workbook with the help of your tutor. |
Teaching & assessment | Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course. |
Progression | There may be opportunities to progress onto other courses both in the community and at Nottingham College sites. The course tutor can discuss appropriate opportunities if you wish to further your learning in this subject area. You will have the opportunity to access external Careers Guidance to aid your next steps. |
