Computing for Improvers - Part-time


Course outline

This course is ideal if you are a beginner in computing and need to improve your skills in the basics of computing.

You’ll get to grips with the software and learn where all the latest tools can be found to ensure that you can utilise all of the Microsoft functions.

Our friendly staff will take you through how to use Microsoft Access for databases, Microsoft Outlook for email, Microsoft Powerpoint for presentations, Microsoft Excel for spreadsheets and Microsoft Word for word processing.

You’ll learn in a relaxed and welcoming environment with experienced staff who will help you to get up to speed with all the latest IT skills, plus each and every learner will have access to a computer, giving you time to explore and learn at your own pace.

You’ll have access to the latest software to ensure that you are up to the standards used within the industry.

Tutors will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.


By attending the course you will have increased your knowledge, skills and understanding to help you move on and take up further opportunities open to you.

Your tutor will discuss progression opportunities with you at the final session as part of the course evaluation. These may include other community courses, employability skills courses, volunteering opportunities and progression onto other Nottingham College courses.
