This is a lively, practical, hands-on course designed to enable you to develop the skills and knowledge you need to work at the cutting edge of the fast-moving digital design industry.
You’ll study a range of essential design topics, including creative origination, problem solving, and customer-focussed design processes.
You will explore these in the context of a subject that interests you: current students are working on projects in Game Design, Animation, Motion Graphics and Web Design.
You’ll gain practical experience of concept generation, concept art, content negotiation, designing the user experience, distribution and publication.
You will develop your skills in these areas using industry standard hardware and software, through projects, competitions and live briefs developed with our industry partners.
Modules may include:
- Graphic design
- Character design
- Environmental design
- Web applications
You will also study professional practice, visual culture, and a Final Major Project in your chosen area.
The course may also include live briefs, industry visits, field trips and guest speakers.

For creative courses you would usually need a qualification in a relevant subject area.
We would expect students to be working at (or to demonstrate competency at) Level 2 or above in English/literacy and maths/numeracy.

You can expect to pursue a career in specialist areas such as graphic design, animation and games design, web design and interactive multimedia applications.
You could progress to the final stages of a related honours degree or to our BA (Hons) Digital Media Design Top-up Degree, awarded by Nottingham Trent University.
