Course outline

If you want to pursue a career in networking, computer hardware systems and in a support role, or to progress to a higher level of study, then this could be the course for you.

You’ll learn units including but not limited to:

  • Project management
  • Information security
  • Networking fundamentals
  • Digital business communication
  • Software development fundamentals
  • Collection and analysis of data
  • Enterprise technologies

You can expect to gain the skills and knowledge to succeed in an ever-changing ICT environment. A strong emphasis is also placed on providing additional and practical skills that will equip you to adapt to emerging ICT technologies.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at grades 9– 4 (A*– C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grades 9– 4 (A*– C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and Maths GCSE grades 9–4 (A*–C).

Assessment

Assessment of your work could be carried out both internally and externally in the form of examinations, assessment work and multiple-choice online tests.

Progression

Choose to follow with progression to courses such as our Level 4 Diploma in ICT, or CISCO, Access to Higher Education, or an apprenticeship. You could also choose employment in network installation and maintenance, IT helpdesk support and IT technician posts.
