Course outline

The focus of this course is to develop existing hand and machine embroidery skills.

The course is aimed at those who want to improve on their embroidery skills. We will explore both hand and machine embroidery which can be used to produce a finished piece.

On this course, you will:

  • Develop hand embroidery skills, looking at different stitch techniques eg thread painting.
  • Develop free motion embroidery skills
  • Create a finished piece using hand and/or machine embroidery techniques which will be mounted in an embroidery frame

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you must be aged 19+ and have some experience of hand embroidery.

As you will be required to complete a mandatory course workbook (Individual Learning Plan) each week, with the support of your course tutor, you must have a good standard of written and spoken English.

Teaching & assessment

Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete a short workbook and encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course.

The course tutor can discuss appropriate opportunities if you wish to further their learning in this subject area.
