By the end of the course you will be able to speak basic German as well as understand spoken and written German in simple situations. You will be able to write basic sentences in German. In short you will be able to cope in every day situations, whether in for leisure, travel or work and the fundamental elements of grammar will have been taught.
You will cover a range of situations, for example:
- Booking in to a hotel
- Ordering meals in a restaurant
- Introducing yourself in a formal or informal environment
- Buying train/bus tickets and understanding the timetables
- Reading and answering simple emails and letters
- Finding your way around town

This course is aimed at complete beginners or those with a small amount of language from school days. It is a practical course aimed at giving you the ability to cope in everyday situations on a visit to Germany or a German speaking country.

This is a leisure course, and so there is no formal assessment or course work and you will be given feedback regarding learner progress.
The College offers no formal qualifications in Languages, but follow on leisure classes are available.
